On October 11, the Sub-forum on Teaching and Management of ASEAN International Students in China, part of the 2025 China (Guangxi) - ASEAN International Academic Seminar on the High-Quality Development of Special Education Teachers, was held in Nanning. Hosted by the Foreign Student Education and Management Professional Committee of Guangxi Higher Education Association (referred to as Guangxi Foreign Student Management Association), the forum gathered more than 40 representatives from member units of the association. Wang Jing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs of our university, attended the event.
Centering on the theme "New Opportunities and Challenges in the Education of ASEAN International Students in China Under the Background of Artificial Intelligence", the forum conducted in-depth discussions on optimizing the teaching and management of ASEAN international students in China. It was hosted by Yang Xuming, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Foreign Student Management Association. In her opening speech, Lü Qing, First-Class Researcher of the Department of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation of the Regional Department of Education, emphasized several key points: improving the daily management system for international students through top-level planning and strengthened responsibility implementation; normalizing psychological screening and prevention mechanisms with regular psychological assessments; solidifying the management of international student dormitories as well as the establishment of files and accounts; actively promoting school-family collaboration; and enhancing training for foreign student management cadres to improve their political awareness and document work capabilities.
At the forum, representatives from various member units held enthusiastic discussions on key topics such as international student enrollment, orientation education, HSK test center application and operation, and mental health counseling, sharing a wealth of practically valuable experiences and insights. In his summary, Qin Chengqiang, Chairman of Guangxi Foreign Student Management Association, pointed out the need to attach great importance to the ideological work and safety of international students, improve emergency response plans, and strengthen unified training for foreign student management cadres. He also suggested that member units should enhance mutual research and learning, with universities in Guilin exploring differentiated development paths to build their own characteristics. Additionally, efforts should be made to actively organize scientific research projects for international exchange and international Chinese teachers, providing them with high-quality research platforms.
Our university obtained the qualification for international student education in 2023. This forum provided a valuable learning and exchange opportunity for the Office of International Affairs, helping to better carry out relevant work for international students in the future and accumulating experience and laying a solid foundation for the university's international student enrollment and management.
