Guilin University, located in Guilin, the international tourist city known for its “peerless landscape in the world”, is an independent full-time private university offering undergraduate degrees. Its predecessor was Lijiang College of Guangxi Normal University, founded in May 2001. Approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, it was renamed as Guilin University in May 2021.

The university covers an area of more than 830 mu, with a total construction area of more than 200,000 square meters. It has modern and fully functional “corridor-style” teaching buildings, laboratories and libraries. The student apartments are equipped with modern living facility. The campus has elegant landscape design with both well-manicured gardens and natural woodland.

Positioned as an application-oriented institution of higher learning, the university is dedicated to producing high-quality applied and technically skilled talents for regional economic and social development. Currently, there are 9 schools in the university, offering 50 bachelor’s programs, with over 700 full-time teachers and 12,600 students.

The university has established friendly and cooperative relations with dozens of universities in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Belarus and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and carried out substantive exchanges and cooperation. More than a thousand students have studied outside the Chinese mainland. The university has jointly built a “Chinese Language Learning Base for Thai Students” with the Committee on Education and Sports of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand.

With an eye on the future, the university will continuously optimize the structure of its subjects and programs so as to build itself into a new model of internationalized urban university in Guangxi, balancing both teaching and application, meeting both local and comprehensive needs, and achieving mutual benefit between itself and Guilin city.
