To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and commemorate the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations, the School of Foreign Languages/the School of International Education at Guilin University held a special cultural exchange event on September 27.

The gathering, themed "Reunion with Thai Friends, Understanding in Guilin," brought together Thai-majoring students, faculty, Thai teachers from Guangxi Normal University, and international student representatives.

A Fusion of Cultures

The event featured a vibrant display of Chinese and Thai traditions. Attendees watched cultural videos about the Mid-Autumn Festival and enjoyed live performances, including a Chinese rendition of "Prelude to Water Melody" and a lively Thai dance called "Rhythm of Thai Hometown."

A key highlight was the Chinese-Thai bilingual lantern-riddle contest, which demonstrated students' language proficiency and fostered cross-cultural understanding in a fun, interactive way.

Strengthening Bonds Through Shared Tradition

The celebration concluded with participants sharing mooncakes and personal experiences. Thai teachers and students expressed feeling the warmth of a home away from home and a growing fondness for Chinese culture.

This successful event not only strengthened the bonds between Chinese and Thai educators and students but also embodied Guilin University's international vision. It provided a valuable platform for cultural exchange, enriching the educational cooperation between the two nations.
