On the afternoon of September 12, 2025, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, a delegation led by Professor NGUYEN DUC TRINH, President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, and Professor Hou Daohui, former President of Guangxi Arts University, visited our university for academic and cultural exchange.
President Wu Guoquan warmly received the delegation in the Tea Art and Tasting Room accompanied by Vice President He Ling, who presided over the symposium. Heads of the University Office, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Education and Music, School of Foreign Languages, as well as faculty representatives from the Musicology Major and Vietnamese Language Major attended the seminar. Both sides conducted meaningful and substantive exchanges.

During the symposium, President Wu introduced the university’s recent progress in talent cultivation and internationalized school-running, expressing hopes to deepen cooperation with Vietnamese counterparts in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and artistic collaboration. Professor Hou encouraged the university to actively participate in the China-ASEAN Music Week to broaden its international platforms. Professor NGUYEN, on his first visit to Guilin University, spoke highly of the artistic atmosphere on campus and extended a sincere invitation for university representatives to visit Vietnam and experience the country’s vibrant performing arts scene.
In the second session of the visit, the focus shifted to the theme “Sino-Vietnamese Music Exchange Journey · Harmony of Mountains and Rivers – Guilin Wenchang Folk Art.” Representative inheritors of Guangxi Wenchang Folk Art were invited to perform classic pieces such as The Drunken Beauty, which were met with enthusiastic applause. The performances showcased the university’s commitment to the preservation and promotion of traditional culture. In the following discussion, scholars from both countries explored innovative topics, including the revitalization of Bolie Music and the global dissemination of ethnic music traditions, reaching a preliminary consensus on future collaborative projects.
In her closing remarks, Vice President He Ling emphasized the university’s commitment to leveraging this productive exchange as a springboard for enhanced cooperation with Vietnamese partners. She affirmed that the institution would actively implement follow-up initiatives to deepen Sino-Vietnamese collaboration in art education and cultural exchanges, ensuring sustained progress in academic and artistic ties between the two nations.
